Konami Giveth and Konami Taketh Away

Warning: This article is going to be sloppy because I don't have a lot of time, but please enjoy :)

What can I say about ban list time that I haven't already said in another post? It's here, and as always, is making some major changes for the game. The biggest decks this format have been Dino Rabbit, Inzektors, Wind-Ups (early format), and Chaos Dragons. Amazingly, this list deals with all of these major decks, at least a little bit. Now, on to the list!

Newly Forbidden
Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
Future Fusion

Newly Limited
Inzektor Dragonfly
Inzektor Hornet
Chaos Sorcerer
Spore
Tsukuyomi
Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon
Evigishki Gustkraken
Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity
Ultimate Offering

Newly Semi-Limited
Rescue Rabbit
The Agent of Mystery - Earth
Debris Dragon
Blackwing Kalut the Moonshadow
Tour Guide from the Underworld
E-Emergency Call
Pot of Duality
Hieratic Seal of Convocation
A Hero Lives
Reasoning
Mirror Force

Newly Unlimited
Necro Gardna
Marshmallon
Emergency Teleport
Destiny Draw
Level Limit - Area B
Swords of Revealing Light
Magic Cylinder

We FINALLY get Tsukuyomi back! Players have been asking for this for years, and you can find my thoughts on this in my last format's list prediction. Spore coming back is a bit of a boost for the Synchro crowd, and with 2 Debris Dragon, maybe we'll see an attempt at reviving Plants.

Out of the big 3 (or 4 if you count Wind-Ups), Dino Rabbit got hit the lightest, only losing 1 Rabbit and 1 Tour Guide, while Wind-Ups, Inzektors, and Chaos Dragons got some of their most important cards limited/banned.

Future Fusion is what sets Chaos Dragons up to explode. So much advantage is gained by playing this card and dumping Elcipse Wyvern, Lightpulsar, and REDMD targets. Without this, Chaos Dragons loses it's easy OTK setup. REDMD and Chaos Sorcerer going to 1 also cut back on cheap power monsters, which means the deck will either rely more heavily on Lightsworn milling, or players will just have to find another way to set up the power plays.

Wind-Ups have quite a lot of plays that were forgotten when the Zenmaity loop arrived so there's still plenty to work with there. I've never used Inzektors, so I'm not sure what they can do to stay afloat after losing Dragonfly and Hornet. Alive HERO (and HERO decks in general) take a small hit with E - Emergency Call and A Hero Lives going to 2.

This list doesn't just hurt the top decks, it also boosts the forgotten top decks of past formats. Blackwings get another Kalut (which should have been a Gale), Lightsworn/Twilight decks get another Necro Gardna, and fans of TeleDAD get their full set of Emergency Teleport and D Draw. In a Heavy Storm/3 MST format, if for some reason you'd want to build an outdated stall deck, you now have that option with unlimited Level Limit - Area B and Swords of Revealing light.

I can't wait to see what happens with 2 Reasoning. Probably nothing since DMoC is still banned and Samurai decks are way too different from what they used to be, but I personally hope someone does something cool with it. 2 Mirror Force is also an interesting choice following Torrential Tribute's increase last time, but it's not a huge surprise. Heavy Storm/3 MST makes it unsafe for any non-chainable trap.
